Gillifan's and RamadaPosted: 11/18/2008
I am getting married next year at the Double Tree however I have been to weddings at both Gillifan's and Ramada. The food at Gillifans was great and the landscaping pretty. I did not like the dance floor because it is on one side of the room, down two stairs and surrounded by a wall... made it pretty hard for everyone to watch dancing. The Ramada on Buckley Rd. is beautiful and the food is also good. They have the bonus of being able to be inside and out for the reception.

I just got married this summer and I vowed I'd return to the chats to provide info as I got so much help from them so-- we were married at the Embassy-- the food was wonderful and we had numerous people tell us it was one of the best weddings for food, as far as service... you can get a good deal but have to make sure you tell the wedding planners things more than once as the organization was a little scattered, however they really mean well- some of our friends said the open bar was a little watered down, while others said it was just fine; and they didn't serve coffee- which coffee and tea were included in our package- they would provide it to people who asked, but I definately thought it should have been served-- beautiful room, reasonable prices, nice rooms and great food--if you're good about keeping on people about things and/or have a good planner you can get good results with this place-- room deals are pretty chincy compared to other hotels but ok
NOT GREYSTONE CASTLE - Recently Wed

I got married and had a reception at the GREYSTONE CASTLE IN CANASTOTA and I would not reccomend it. The lady who runs it is highly controlling and a bit closed minded when it comes to suggesting your own unique ideas. She was rude and demanding to many of our guests. She was so nervous that it made us nervous. Even though you rent the whole place out, she acts like all you really have any access to is the big ball room. If you don't want dancing, she acts insulted. If you prefer to design the layout yourselves, she will try to over power you with her own uncreative ideas that have been done ove and over again. She really is in the wrong profession for her personality and unless you don't mind dealing with someone like this, I would suggest looking elsewhere. And you are limited and restricted to her choice of caterers.

I highly recommend Double Tree! The place is beautiful, the staff is great, and the prices are very reasonable. They went above and beyond what we expected.

I'm desperately seeking reviews on the Shenandoah, I've heard good things from vendors, but I want to hear from someone who has been to a wedding there!
